The Idea behind the Project
These days people are talking a lot about tropical forests, and also the future of Borneo’s forests is a hot topic. In Denmark many people still have a picture of Borneo as a place with lots of untouched nature. Not many people know what the island actually looks like. Most people think Borneo is pure nature, endless primary forest and lots of orangutans.
In Denmark, Inger got more and more interested and curious: What does it look like, the “real” Borneo? Are there still lots of forest? Or what about palm oil plantations? What is the land used for in Borneo? What is happening?
Somehow the Danish Government was also wondering what is happening in Borneo, so Danida gave Inger and Ika grant to go looking.
